Amazing Grace is the song you used to sing to me as a child, your favourite hymn and a fitting tribute to the wonderful woman you were.
Today we say goodbye Grandma and celebrate your amazing 97 years. You were a remarkable women who saw and dealt with more than most people will in their lifetime - all with grace, resolve, kindness and your own unique sense of humour.
You lived through two World Wars, more Prime Ministers than the Queen (19 no less), 56 years of marriage to Jim (send him my love), an uncountable and unmentionable amount of chocolate and probably more episodes of Countdown than anyone else on the planet (and you probably had the highest score too)!
You were, and remain, a glorious role model. You raised two wonderful daughters - one is the most loving mother I could ever have been blessed with and the other is my wonderful aunt who is so special to me. You took care of me from being a baby and loved me all my life. I know you’ll continue to love me from that “better place” you were looking for…as I will always love you and carry you in my heart. I am who I am because of you.
